Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone 6 Plus preorders have and customers will have to wait awhile to get the new smartphone.
Customers that have a preorder for the iPhone 6 Plus, Apple’s 5.5-inch version of the iPhone 6, will have to wait until early October to get their hands on the device. Those who ordered their devices through a wireless carrier will likely have to wait longer and won’t receive their smartphones until mid October at the soonest, reports USA Today.
Preorders for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus opened at midnight Pacific Time. This led to many sites, including the Apple Store, experiencing trouble due to the surge of traffic. While the iPhone 6 Plus preorders are closed, customers can still place a preorder for the 4.7-inch version of the iPhone 6. The version of the smartphone is still expected to be shipped on September 19, USA Today

According to Apple, the iPhone 6 has reached placed, but it didn’t say how many of the upcoming smartphones were ordered.
Apple’s has had to delay shipments of iPhones in the past. The iPhone 5 saw a one week delay when it was released in 2012 and the iPhone 4S saw preorders sell out with many carriers five days after they were opened, reports .
AAPL shares were up slightly as of Friday afternoon.
