Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) is alerting owners of older model Kindles that they need to be updated immediately.
Amazon has announced that certain older Kindles that aren’t updates to the appropriate software versions . The update needs to be on devices by March 22, which is tomorrow.
Here is a list of the Kindles that need to be updated and what software version they should be at.
- Kindle 1st Generation (2007) — Needs software version 1.2.1.
- Kindle 2nd Generation (2009) — Needs software version 2.5.8.
- Kindle DX 2nd Generation (2009) — Needs software version 2.5.8.
- Kindle Keyboard 3rd Generation (2010) — Needs software version 3.4.2 or higher.
- Kindle 4th Generation (2011) — Needs software version 4.1.3 or higher.
- Kindle 5th Generation (2012) — Needs software version 4.1.3 or higher.
- Kindle Touch 4th Generation (2011) — Needs software version 5.3.7.3 or higher.
- Kindle Paperwhite 5th Generation (2012) — Needs software version 5.6.1.1 or higher
