Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) has announced that it will be jumping into e-sports.
EA’s e-sports initiative will be headed by Peter Moore and it will included tournaments for . This includes the Challenger level for any gamer, Premier tournaments hosted by the company and the EA Majors, which is where world champions will be decided.
Electronic Arts is offering $1 million worth of prize money between the three tournaments mentioned above. The move toward e-sports could be a good decision for EA as its estimated that it will be a $1 billion market by 2019, reports VentureBeat.
Electronic Arts also announced as part of its press conference for E3. This includes Battlefield 1, FIFA 17
, Madden 17 and TitanFall 2.
EA shares were down 1% as of Monday morning.
